The Power of TESDA

As, Technical Education Skills and Development Authority, they are one of the government agencies which cater skill development for Filipinos. They are promoting world class competence and skill development with positive work values. Good thing about this organization is they are mainly funded by the government in adopting technology in their organization, which they utilized for education. They funded by the DBM, which is Php 3 million a year budget for the organization, more than 5% is the allocated for funding and budgeting  for technology purchasing. The requisition is based on the bank of DBM with no brand reference when they want to purchase new technology. Good thing about TESDA is they are organize in allocating budget for technology. Aside from they have much budget each year, they strive to please their costumer in terms of their services.

It is true that technology enhance learning, but it does not replace the role of the teachers inside the learning environment. Technology is only a helpful for empowering education.
JOSE L. PORRAS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL is one of the beneficiary of educational technology that was given by the Philippine government, which includes a number of computer set and one PANABOARD. Hope that this technology will be used mainly for the learners and not for viewing purposes only. 
This donated computers will be more useful for the teachers in making comprehensive reports for their school like,computing grades, Phil -IRI report, LRN, and test result. Considering also not for teachers use only but for integrating this technology in their respective lesson or much better if the learner will have a hands-on experience with this gadget, even a once a week schedule.

The Organization with the Heart in Education

This is different from other presenter since they are not working in a certain school, but they support education in the Philippines. They have a good vision through Philippine education. they are the group of people who render their lives in helping youth in striving for better education. They are the Rural Missionaries of the Philippines, their organization is compose of   inter-congregational and  inter-diocesan in character , of women and men religious, priest, and lay, which focus in solidarity works and campaign. They strive to help indigent Filipino Youth which the education is in the far flung areas of Mindanao.
What technology they usually use? Still the use of computer is very demanding, and the use of internet through email and networking.

Innovation of Technology in Higher Demands of Learners

Public schools are really in big population in terms of their learners. That is why it calls for better education for everyone. As one popular public schools here in Davao City, Magallanes Elementary School. They are now in the adoption of educational technology in their school.
The help of this technology will be more useful for teachers in preparing school papers reports. making daily lesson plans, and making use of internet to download educational videos for interactive learning. One best thing in the school where they utilize the good thing which the Television bring like the KNOWLEDGE CHANNEL, which can be viewed in their library always which is very interactive and  informative  educational for their  learners from Grade 1 to Grade 6. The presenter also shared that considering the large number of learners in one classroom, they are allowed to use microphones in their respective classes. Other teacher use also lapels. 
Teachers as facilitator of learning, they should not be condemn on the book they use for teaching, they should also upgrade their selves in the fast changing society nowadays. Adopt the new and current trends of innovation that will help not only for themselves but also in the instruction.

One best thing about public schools is they are supported by the government. They have allotted funds for their operation in the school. But according to them this is not enough for purchasing to have the best facilities for their school. Still they work out for more donations coming from politicians and other caring people that look for better education in the Philippines.  Banate Elementary School is a central school in their locale. But still it needs for attention in terms of educational technology. Good thing they have teachers which doing their very best part to educate the Filipino youth. As I read their school VMGO, there is no specific sites where they focus or integrate technology in the learning environment. But still they have available technology resources which can be use by the learners in their quest for learning knowledge and for their holistic development as a whole.

Improving for Better Advancement of Education

As many school is existing, among of them strive for excellent education. Newly establish schools are aiming for better services through their education reflected in their curriculum. 
They strive to one of the better school in place. As they go along the competition,  Poter' s  Clay Christian School strive its best practices that they have already in their school. It recently started   in 2004, and not totally done and still on going of infrastructure and more development on physical aspect of the school. But as time goes by, they really persevere for improvement. According to the presenter the recent development of the school is the newly built school building from the initiative of donations from the church and of course from the school funds. When in terms of technology we can say that there are in need of improvement. Scarcity is not a problem when someone is resourceful enough. That is why through the initiative of teachers, they are the one making possible resolution on how they will integrate technology on their respective classes. What they always think is strive and be motivated to do what is best..

Center for Learning

This Center for Learning are among the technological tools which the schools of Saint Micheal's School of Padada that will enhance student learning. They call it as Center for Learning since this is the venue of their learner's to learn. Their  existing technology enhanced   learning by making the student uplift their interests and improve classroom participation's. this Center also promote academic performance in quizzes and varied  assessment tools use by the teachers. 
Good thing about computers work is they can make work easier. Many school now are adopting their enrollment system on a computer bases. They use programs for their school specification sets for enrollment system. Making their enrollment system easy to handle of some parents. 
They are the only presenter who shared their Total Cost of Ownership in their school.  They presented the cost, numbers of unit they already purchase and amount of each of their educational facilities which the school purchase over a year.

Technology to instruction maybe use by teachers on the things that they usually do. But after some observation to the learners we the teachers observes changes in behavior, attitude of the learners on the discussion and improvements on the attention span of the learners the teacher may realize that the incorporate of technology is really necessary and meaningful. The teacher gradually use technology more often when she observes improvements on the teaching- learning process. Sometimes the use of technology can lessen the number of absenteeism, create collaboration, and improves independent learning.

In the school, Harvest  House Lifegiver Learning Center, they offer computer subjects as part of the school curriculum. Although they already technologies that will aid teaching like instructional television, overhead projector and other media for instruction like CD-ROM and wi-fi connection in the school campus.

Most problems existing even teachers could not have this technology that can be use for instruction in their respected classroom settings. Preparing this technology can really consume to much time sometimes. Although this instructional media is use to support and improve the teachers role as a facilitator and instructor. But how can be a teacher a facilitator of this technology that even himself has less knowledge of manipulating this technology? That is why the effectiveness of the use of technology in instruction sometimes relying on the effectiveness of the teacher to used and manage the technology.

There are suggested website on the book that we Teachers use it, which will promote more learning on the topic lesson that being learn, but sometimes internet is hard and difficult to find the precise information they needed. The learner encounter incorrect information, but somehow this will allow learners to study and conceptualize the topic that is accurate. However, internet provides more learning to student, for example the learner wanted to learn more about current events like in space, environment, climate change, earth (maps, countries, continents). In this way the world wide web assist student their wants and search for knowledge, investigate their own quest for knowledge. They learn to conceptualize ideas and create a questioning concept that will create learners inquiry for answer and issues that concerns their interest.

There is also a version of book in the libraries or any printed materials in the form of CD-ROM. Our school has CD-ROM that can be use by teachers as references for teaching. This CD-ROM are more interactive because there activities that involves students participation. This is design to draw the attention of the learners on the instruction. this CD-Rom provides information in digital, picture,video, and audio form and sometimes has links to website where we can access on the internet.

Instructional technology has the capacity to transform school. They are not typical old school anymore but following the trend in global demand of society for technology/ies consumption and usage.

 The achievement of technology in instruction is the effectiveness on how it is being incorporate in the teaching-learning process. Teachers should skillful enough and innovative to create new ideas in order to build meaningful learning environment.

Quest for Better Technology

Teachers are the facilitator of innovation in learning and integrating technology in education. To some schools they are the source of Knowledge in learning the advancement of technology. Teachers are responsible in students learning. Now that the advancement of technology is very common, teacher should also open its door for innovation, that this technology would bring to education. Many schools nowadays are not aware of new technology, but as I look, they always strive their best to have educational technology even a little number of units only. 

As the Doroluman Elementary School adopts its learning environment to the advancement of technology, responsible teachers used their own Laptops for creating a learning environment that is suitable for learning. This laptop mainly a tool to ease the learning and teaching process in both side for teacher and learners. They have also printer, they use for printing their school paper, but it's role is for office work only. What makes learning more fun for students in Doroluman Elementary School is their Television with DVD player. Their television catches really the attention of the learners. Some part, it is an aid for learning and play a big role in their learning environment.

As some others would say they are the one of the private schools here in Davao City that is well establish and recognized. As the presenter discuus their technological practices in their school I was strict about this e- learning could Genyo. according to Sun Star Davao, Genyo is an online e-learning management program that makes the internet an ally in moving Philippine education forward as it is up to date with the beat of global education. 

This educational Website are just for learning sake. Good thing now, students and teachers do not only click on the web to access their e-mail and social networking sites, but also to brush up or do advance studies on their Science, Math, English, Filipino and Araling Panlipunan.

The provider of Genyo is the Diwa Learning System,This is design for the schools who join the program. They are the one who can access the program in their sites and for the learners, 

The member school can access the program, they have also Genyo Laboratory which is schedule by week, but the learners can access the Genyo anytime to their home or anywhere they want. Because it has a Log-in system.

Buhisan Education

It is good to know from the government that they really allotted enough budget for educational system now in the Philippines. the Department of Education trough the initiative of the Philippines government they are now purchasing educational tools for public elementary schools in Mindanao, particularly in the Division of Davao City.

 Buhisan Elementary School is one of the school here in Davao City has given a chance to avail these computer set and 1 interactive board which is commonly known as "PANABOARD". Our  government  nowadays would really look into the quality education that this technology would bring to the learners, its need and quest of public schools better education and technology innovations.

Aside from their newly purchase given to them they have also some educational tools already in their schools that will enhance student learning.. but sometimes it is sad to hear that these educational materials in the school are for eyes only of the learners, it only for viewing purposes only for them.

The same with the other public schools they have also garden with full of planted vegetables, which they harvested for their feeding program for those learners who happen to have nutrition problem. it is really a good project since the school addresses the nutritional growth of their learners.

A primary focus for employing instructional technology in schools is to enhance student learning. Technology and gadgets of today's generation has contained software that is design for educational purpose that would really invite students in the learning environment. This is one way of motivating them that in learning there are fun and enjoyment. That is creating an interactive environment that is inviting to them.

The Invasion of Interactive Board...

In terms of interactive, there is now new technology emerges in one of the presentation, representing the interactive board. This interactive board contains software that is purposely design for educational tools, instruction and learning. This not new to my senses since I've seen it before in one of our seminars held last May at Gakken Philippines. They presented (market) it to us. They also show us on how to use the interactive board. According to them if our school would like to purchase even one item, they will conduct a free or package seminar for the teachers as orientation on how to manipulate the interactive board.

The interactive board contains different subject areas where teachers can introduce lesson in such that they can ignite the attention of the learners to learn. Even I myself felt an excitement when they are introducing this technology and it's totally amazing! It’s also contains interactive activities, a lot of activities that the student would really enjoy. Every presentation of the lesson has an audio that would explain to the student and if there is a time when the student got a wrong answer automatically the interactive board inform you that the answer is in correct.

INTERNET  VALUES...

One topic that is being touch in our discussion is all about internet usage. Internet nowadays are one of the most popular resources of the endless amount of information in almost any subject, communication, leisure and even a source of income of few. Internet research is gaining popularity. The use of internet is a source of information but the wide spread of this information would also lead students to the incorrect concept. Internet also invite student to dwell in unnecessary things that sometimes degrade the values that they have. In addition, there are lot of accessing materials in the World Wide Web that will lead made student hard to find the accurate or precise information that would actually they needed. The student may get a biased resource. But somehow this will also bring students to learn strategies on how to evaluate the opportunities of the information in the internet.

 TECHNOLOGY IN A MARIAN SCHOOL..

One good thing in some Marian school like the Holycross of Digos, is they are organized. Everything is carefully in the right place. They see to it the operation, as well as the resources is in the smooth flow of run. Good thing to hear in the presenter that he present their technology lifespan in the materials and their resources available, because they will know what will be the action in the future run of their technology. They can set a plan whether they will purchase new or not. The lifespan of any technology is important in order to know where is the ultimate capacity in the technology materials that being purchase.

PAQIUBATO TECH.

 It is really true in reality that there are some computers nowadays that are not anymore functional for others but still it is usable for some. for them they are treasures that should to be cared of properly. 

It is good thing to hear that even they are far from the city they really embrace the new trends of their external environment away from their location. This will help to students for introducing another ways of learning aside from traditional paper- pencil learning. Although the media that they have in their school is not actually use for instruction but still it will help teachers as a tool to increase their productivity in preparing and making their lesson more colourful and meaningful to the learners. This computers that they have in school is use to create and design materials for better delivery of the lesson. The computers is for teachers consumption only but in the days to come it is already the pupils who will use this resources because in the first place it is them the reason behind why school purchase computers.

At last I've seen this walter book that they have ( but not in actual gadget only in picture ). I was then amazed the feature of this walter book . The goodness it brings to the teaching- learning process is really exciting.

The Rise of Walter Book

Technology change as times goes by. It is changing it's phase to some innovation from different run of life in order to improve human lifestyle. But as technology evolve in this fast changing world, many innovation also of different technologies design to enhance its aid in relation to the integration of technology in instruction and learning.

Thus, technology changes, it will also create new opportunities in the way instruction and learning occurs in various settings among schools.

I was really amazed and fascinated on how technology is being introduced and used in different schools of my respected classmate in our class in Management in Educational Technology. During the presentation, truly there is an excitement on my part on how those technology ( shall we say gadgets) is being incorporated in the instruction on their respected classes. I wonder on what it may bring those gadget to create meaningful learning. Thus, those technology that being presented are new to my senses. First, namely the WALTER BOOK. Walter Book? Who are you? This new medium is really foreign to me. I don't know how it looks like and how it is used to manipulate in order to provide innovative educational opportunities. In such matter, I imagine of how this Walter Book provide more opportunities for more interactive learning experiences. I guess it is really fun and something like new world of more exploration of learning and discovery!and  more fun and enjoyable learning for both teachers and students.From its name itself, Walter Book, thus for sure it contains program that has more interactive activities compared to ordinary books that we have right now. But how these gadget enhance learning?As for the gadget concerns, in my own point of view.It will really create new taste of experience among teachers and students in using this new technology on the integration to the lessons in different subject areas where they are learning.

This kind of technology really required a prepared and skillful teachers to manipulate the Walter Book or even any kind of gadget, in order to use it effectively in a classroom settings. The functions of this technology requires familiarization to teachers so that this resources be able to incorporate properly into the classroom activities to accomplish the main objectives of learning.

Korean Dictionary Innovation

The second is the Korean Dictionary which is the new version in a form of gadget. This is an electronic dictionary device which the software is design to translate English language to Korean language or vice versa. This is for better comprehension on both languages.This technology is currently used in one of the Korean School which caters Koreans who study English language here in the city. This technology is really Korean friendly gadget because this is made to cater the needs of the Korean student in the translation of the two languages. The software is design to aid student in their quest for learning. This is also helpful to teachers in teaching Korean student  in translating the languages because the teacher is not familiar also of the Korean language.

Software embedded to those gadget really design to aid instruction and to catch and maintain the attention of the learners to instruction. This will help lessen the burden of teachers in preparing activities that promote active involvement and participation among students because this technology is design for interactive learning and to promote instruction more enjoyable and fun.

Those technology are common among the schools in the city. But how about the schools in the rural areas? Based on the presentation of one of my classmate which is a teacher at Datu Manglangan Elementary School. According to him, they are really far behind from other schools in the city in terms of technology. The school is located at the far flung areas of Davao City. The only way you can reach the school is by hiking mountains and crossing rivers. The locale has no electricity for any means of technology to be used. That is why the school is using traditional technology to draw the attention of the learners for effective instruction and learning. Teachers in this situation are resourceful enough to design and create available technology that they have already in school so that it help to enhance better understanding to students.There are lot of materials in the environment to be used in instruction which is available and already familiar to students.

Even without the presence of advance technology, it does not affect on the instruction and learning. Still the learners can learned without the presence of any advance technology or high-tech gadget because still the teachers is responsible for the instruction and to the learning of students. It is on the creativeness of the teachers on how to  create design on what ways he/ she can enhance learning and instruction in the absence of technology.

Those are only few among the technologies that are being incorporated to improve learning and instruction. But those technology are not effective to teaching learning process unless it is used properly and  appropriately to the certain subject taught by the teachers. The effectiveness of any technology differ on how to create meaningful and lifelong learning among students. Nowadays the impact of technology influences the instruction, but there is no effective technology on a certain subject this are only an aid to enhance and will make instruction effective to the learners. The teacher must first to know the appropriateness of any means of technology and most importantly on how to manipulate a certain device/ technology because he/she is the one who is responsible to facilitate the instruction and makes technology effective on the teaching learning process.
